Saying Farewell to PS Home

The closure of PS Home today, the 31st of March 2015, has now arrived. Cue thousands of voices crying out, before being suddenly silenced.

We’d like to take the time to say our final farewell to PlayStation Home and a big thank you to all the PS Home users who have supported us over the past six years.

If you missed it back in December, the team here at nDreams got together to chat about their favourite PlayStation Home memories. If you didn’t see it, you can find it here.

It has been one heck of an incredible journey for the whole team. We wish everyone who has been along for the ride with us nothing but the very best for the future. Our current nDreams PS Home fan page on Facebook will remain open and available for you all to carry on celebrating and reminiscing about PlayStation Home. Rest assured, the nDreams crew will be bringing our PlayStation Home experiences with us to our future endeavours.

Right now, we’re taking all the knowledge and experience we’ve learned over to our next venture in virtual reality. As many of you will know, the team started looking into virtual reality development way back in 2013 and announced our first major VR game at E3 last summer. We’ll be looking forward to sharing more details about The Assembly very soon, so keep an eye out for future announcements.

More recently, we released our very first commercially available VR title by way of the fast-paced and frenetic Gunner for Samsung Gear VR. Also for the Gear VR, we’re looking forward to releasing the decidedly more relaxed and soothing Perfect Beach in the coming months.

To say we’re excited about what the future holds would be a gigantic understatement – we hope that you’ll follow us as we reveal more about what we’re getting up to in the futuristic world of VR. Check out our new Facebook page, follow us on Twitter, and subscribe to our YouTube channel to keep up to date with all the latest news about our VR games.

A personal note from our CEO, Patrick

Hello, PS Home fans. I just wanted to thank everyone personally for your support over the last six years in PlayStation Home. We are honoured to have worked on such a unique platform full of amazing people, great friendships and many incredible memories.

I have no doubt that, with the forthcoming rise of VR, virtual worlds are only going to get bigger and better. I also have no doubt that the next big virtual world will have learnt a lot from PlayStation Home! I wish you all the best of luck, and hope that we get to see you again in a virtual world at some point soon.

Patrick O’Luanaigh
