We are looking for a skilled and passionate Art Manager to help us explore, create, and deliver world-leading innovation in software and VR hardware. 

Our team is our greatest asset, and we believe in providing them with the support and guidance they deserve. As Art Manager, your primary focus will be on nurturing, developing, and planning the career progression of all artists across multiple projects. 

In this role, you will act as the bridge between creativity and the practicalities of development, working closely with Producers and Art Directors to maintain a well-balanced and adaptable skillset within the team.

The rundown:  

  • Permanent role 
  • Full time (37.5 hours per week) 
  • Fully remote within the UK 
  • Salary is competitive and dependent on experience 

 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with Producers to ensure art resourcing is planned and optimized. 
  • Develop and grow the Art team, focusing on personal reviews, career progression, skill balance, and recruitment of individuals with the right skills and potential. 
  • Effectively manage team performance, ensuring individual and collective goals are met, while providing ongoing feedback and development opportunities. 
  • Work closely with the Art Director to ensure the team is aligned with the artistic vision and effectively share and communicate this vision throughout the team. 
  • Inspire and unify the team around a cohesive artistic vision and project goals, translating high-level creative direction into clear tasks and expectations. 
  • Support Principal and Lead Artists in identifying areas for mentorship, training, or skill enhancement. 
  • Establish and maintain best practices to ensure high-quality art creation across the studio. 
  • Act as a strong people manager, gathering regular feedback from team members, fostering an open dialogue, and sharing constructive feedback to help the team grow. 
  • Recruit new talent to bring the right mix of skills into the team, ensuring a well-rounded, high-performing art department.

Requirements

Essential skills:

  • Proven experience as an Art Manager or similar leadership role in game development or other relevant creative fields. 
  • Strong understanding of art direction across multiple styles, genres, and platforms. 
  • Ability to balance creativity with production realities, ensuring both artistic excellence and efficient execution. 
  • Experience in managing team performance, setting clear expectations, and providing feedback that drives continuous improvement. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - equally effective in providing feedback, mentoring, and content critique. 
  • Experience in gathering, analysing, and sharing feedback within the team to enhance performance and cohesion. 
  • Proven ability to recruit and onboard new talent, bringing the right skills into the team to enhance creativity and productivity. 
  • Strong working knowledge of modern game development pipelines, software, and best practices. 
  • A proactive and nurturing leadership style, fostering team growth through mentorship, recruitment, and structured feedback.
