Lead Designer - nDreams Studio (Hybrid)

We are on the hunt for a Lead Designer to collaborate closely with our development teams to create world class VR games and experiences. If you are a maestro of feature innovation, a top tinkerer of gameplay systems and a great manager of people we’d love for you to get in touch.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Game Director to establish designs for core features of the project.
- Drive the development of features through inspirational and collaborative design with a multidisciplinary team.
- Lead and support the team through ideation and into detailed document designs.
- Frequently liaise with the Game Director and the Art & Code departments to make sure that features meet the creative and technical needs of the project.
- Balance, and playtest to optimise for the best player experience.
- Create briefs and comprehensive documents for features, to be used to communicate and align team vision.
- Research and analyse similar features within existing titles.
- Test and evaluate game elements and provide appropriate feedback.
- Take responsibility for managing, mentoring, supporting, and elevating the performance and team values of nDreams.
Requirements
Who Are We Looking For?
Essential capabilities - Excellent knowledge of Unreal Engine.
- Strong, proven design experience designing game systems and mechanics.
- Experience of leading and mentoring a design team.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to convey your ideas to a multi-disciplinary team in a way that inspires them.
- Experience writing detailed design specs, but equally able to express ideas on the whiteboard, paper or in the editor.
- An advocate for prototyping and understanding the advantages it brings to development, the ability to iterate on ideas quickly to find the best solution.
Desired experience
- Extensive experience in the games industry, preferably with several published products within the console, pc, or VR space in a leadership role.
- Comfortable in mentoring and supplying training to all levels of the design team.
- Deep understanding of designing for games for VR and embracing the challenges that brings.
