Description

We are looking for an experienced Audio Programmer for our Core Development group. Working with diverse teams across our four studios, this programmer will build and integrate audio functionality for Unreal Engine 5-based VR games. They’ll partner with our Audio Designers to push the boundaries of sound for VR games. As part of nDreams Core Development, they’ll be contributing to multiple high-profile VR titles.

A collaborative programmer that enjoys working closely with audio designers would be ideal for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and improve on reusable in-house audio tech, specifically targeting VR use cases.
  • Develop audio tools and features for use within Unreal Engine 4/5 and middleware packages.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to spec out deliverables, identify dependencies, scope tasks and track progress.
  • Act as consultant for the designers and programmers on each game team. Ensure audio is incorporated into all aspects of gameplay and enhances game experience.
  • Communicate system design and best practice to a broad audience. Appropriately use wiki pages, diagrams, and code documentation.
  • Fix bugs and support core systems through multiple project lifecycles

Requirements

WHO Are We Looking For?

Essential capabilities

  • At least 3 years of experience in a creative industry, including audio programming work for shipped games/products.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming for games, using C++.
  • Understanding of the game audio workflow and how it interacts with other disciplines.
  • Understanding of digital audio concepts.
  • Good communication skills and a proactive approach.
  • Experience with Audio Middleware (Audiokinetic Wwise preferred)
  • Experience with source control software, such as Helix/Perforce.

Desired experience

  • Professional experience working with Unreal Engine 4/5 and Blueprints. Can expose functionality sensibly to Blueprint/Python scripts.
  • Experience working on multiplayer games.
  • Contributed audio code to a title that shipped on a console or VR platform.
  • Understanding of real time digital signal processing.
  • Understanding of 3D audio spatialisation concepts, such as HRTFs and ambisonics.
  • Experience in working with audio designers and related disciplines
