nDreams to Publish Sushi Ben VR on Major VR Headsets

We’re so excited to share news about our next third-party published title. nDreams are teaming up with the talented team at Big Brane Studios to save our favourite sushi restaurant from going out of business in this upcoming narrative adventure.

“When we started looking for publishers, nDreams was the first one we wanted to send our pitch deck to and, after speaking to just about every other VR publisher, nDreams wound up being the publisher we connected with the most!” said Kane Tyler, Head of Big Brane Studios.

“When we first met Kane and the Big Brane team, we knew we had to work with them,” said David Corless, VP of Publishing at nDreams. “Sushi Ben VR is a captivating narrative adventure, and the imaginative use of Japanese-inspired narrative devices works brilliantly in VR. We’re excited to work with Big Brane to bring Sushi Ben to the world.”

In Sushi Ben VR, players will be trying to convince the local townsfolk to keep your favourite restaurant afloat and eat there with you. Not everyone will be easy to convince, however. You’ll need to complete various tasks and help the townspeople out of a variety of predicaments in order to gain their trust. Narrative encounters will go a number of different ways, dependant on how you’ve previously acted with certain NPCs.

The game uses breakout 3D manga panels as a unique narrative device, drawing the player’s attention to key features and moments, with Sushi Ben lovingly wrapped in a strong anime-inspired art style. Kane, having previously worked in a sushi bar, loosely based the game on the life of a former colleague. After it was initially revealed last year, it was nominated for two categories at the 2021 Raindance Immersive Awards. Sushi Ben VR (working title) will be coming to all major VR headsets, and we’ll be revealing more from the game and the studio behind it over the coming months.
